Wood carving or sculpture is traditionally related with religious art or with joinery, but can, and should, lead you down other paths and to new projects, whether they are figurative or abstract, simple or using other materials or colors.

Working with wood is a constant dialogue between the artist and the raw material which, thanks to its characteristics, doesn't let us impose our ideas upon it easily, but demands communication, commitment, sensitivity and technique.

Chesnut wood will be the main raw material we use - a noble, dense, slow-growing wood, that is resistant and hardwearing as well as beautiful and homogenous.

This course is a creative approaching to wood carving, using the personal artistic expression. After an introduction to the techniques and raw-materials, each participant will work on their own project, supported by the instructor in a friendly, cooperative environment in which everyone helps each other.

You will create pieces inspired by your stay, or that you have long dreamed of doing, reliefs or small sculptures that tell us their stories.

At the end of the course you will take a special piece of artwork home with you, a result of your dialogue with the wood, your creativity and of the lessons you learn on the course.
